A WORLD WITHOUT SUPERMAN
Have you ever stopped and wondered what the world would be like if there was no Superman? Pretty scary thought, isn't it? Just imagine a world where there was no meta-humans. How many of us owe our lives, or the lives of someone we love to these guardians of Earth?
I'd bet that you know at least one person who has said thanks to a super-hero. But what would life be like if they never existed. Let's take a look at Superman for the purpose of this discussion. From what we know, Superman came to Earth from another planet, and he has saved the world countless times. He has rescued people from super-villains, and even helped get cats that are stuck in trees.
Let's say that Superman landed on another planet instead, and he never experienced what the Earth has to offer, would he be the same individual, or someone totally different. Has his time on Earth shaped his outcome and changed his personality? Are we all not products of the envoirnment in which we were raised? I know my parents had a tremendous impact on my life, and it is a pretty safe bet that there have been people that have had a tremendous impact on his life as well.
But back to the original question: what would the Earth be like without our champions and protectors? Would Earth have been conquered by the Dominon, or perhaps we would be crushed under the heel of another oppressive warlord. Imagine no one to stop Darkseid's rampage on Earth. Who would stop the Joker, or Brainiac when they dreamed of
Superman in his long hair days world domination? And on a much lesser scale, what about some foreign government that wanted to take over the world?
While mankind is equipped to deal with threats from within, how are we to handle an alien invasion, or a super-powered criminal? The answer is simple, we can't. And that is why we should be thankful that people like Superman have chosen Earth as his home.
And be thankful that a nail or something equally as small never prevented Superman from reaching the Earth.

MICHAEL CARTER RECEIVES INVITATION TO MAURADERS CAMP
San Francisco - The former super-hero known as Booster Gold, retired from the life as a super-hero, and former member of the Justice League had been invited to the San Fransisco Mauraders training camp for the upcoming 1998-1999 NFL season.
This springs a whole slew of questions from other team owners, as well as the media. Should a meta-human be allowed to play a professional sport. Is Michael Carter even a meta-human? What about other teams bringing in special players. Imagine Guy Gardner or Steel playing a sport. Would that not give an unfair advantage to certain teams?
The whole situation may not even present itself as a problem. Michaek Carter hasn't announced to anyone if he is even interested in playing football. But the question would still remain, what if another professional team tries to recruite a meta-human? What will happen then? I guess only time will tell.
