JLA WATCHTOWER, THE MOON - It is not everyday that a reporter gets to see the world's greatest Superhero team in action. Today, they certainly didn't look that way.
During a press conference to announce the new Justice League of America membership, the JLA was attacked by a villains known only as Prometheus. Posing as hero-for-a-day winner, Retro, Prometheus easily took control of the Justice League Headquarters, known as the Watchtower.
The mysterious villain Catwoman had shown up uninvited to this press conference posing as WGBS employee, Cat Grant. As Superman and Wonder Woman were leading us to the Shuttle Bay, Catwoman confronted Prometheus and it was all over with a crack of her whip. Prometheus was temporarily disabled, and as the rest of the League moved in, Prometheus was able to escape.
Prometheus' helmet was placed in the Trophy Room as a symbol of victory, but who is to say that the Justice League has seen the last of this new villain.
When things were slowly returning to normal, the Watchtower was rocked again as what sounded like an Earth-shattering BOOM echoed through the halls. And out of a large yellow hole stepped New God's Orion, son of Darkseid, and Big Barda, whose husband Mister Miracle has previously served as a Justice League member.
They have been assigned to the Justice League as protectors of Earth. They had been chosen as respresentatives because they most resembled humans. What is this threat, described by fellow New God Takion? Superman refused comment. I guess only time will tell.
As I was leaving the Watchtower to travel back to Earth in a shuttlecraft, I had the chance to reflect on my visit to the Watchtower. I had been invited there to witness the new line-up of the Justice League, and I had gotten a life or death crisis, a new villain, impending doom for the planet Earth…and a new League membership. It makes me wonder what these guys do for fun!
